The Toronto Public Space Committee has been protecting, enhancing, and celebrating Toronto's public spaces for almost a decade. Our community projects focus on transforming the public realm through creative interventions and events, such as Guerilla Gardening, De-fencing, the Human River, and Art Attack. Our advocacy campaigns focus on beating back the commercialization of our shared spaces, countering he presence of the advertising lobby at City Hall and elsewhere.
We have also been the primary voice opposing the Toronto Police Service's public-space surveillance (CCTV) program since its introduction in 2007, and last year succeeded in convincing the Police Board to put the brakes on it.

I've been doing advocacy work with the Toronto Public Space Committee since 2005, and have been its chief campaigner since 2007. I've also covered City Hall and urban issues for Eye Weekly, Torontoist, Spacing Toronto, and the National Post, and am currently the token lefty voice in the Post's "Posted Toronto Political Panel," arguing about the municipal election in the paper every Monday.
